For travellers who would rather go deep than far. No long transfers to the Serengeti, just steady game drives in the parks around the crater highlands, plus Bushmen, Maasai and Mto wa Mbu village visits.

Itinerary & highlights

  1. Day 1

    Arrival and Arusha National Park

    Meet on arrival and drive to Arusha National Park for a game drive. Overnight at a hotel, full board.

  2. Day 2

    Tarangire to Karatu

    Drive to Tarangire for an afternoon game drive until late noon, then drive to Karatu. Overnight at a lodge.

  3. Day 3

    Bushmen culture

    Morning visit to the Bushmen tribe to learn about their culture. Overnight at the lodge.

  4. Day 4

    Maasai village and the crater

    Visit a Maasai village in Ngorongoro, then descend into the crater for a game drive and crater tour. Overnight at the lodge.

  5. Day 5

    Lake Manyara

    Depart for a game drive in Lake Manyara with game viewing until late noon, then drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

  6. Day 6

    Mto wa Mbu and departure

    Tour of Mto wa Mbu, a multicultural village home to Maasai, Makonde, Iraqw and Chaga communities, visiting homes and schools. Drive to the airport for departure.
