Overview

A trip built around people rather than parks. You canoe on Lake Duluti, dance with a Maasai community, hunt with bow and arrow alongside the Hadzabe and walk through the homes, farms and schools of Mto wa Mbu, with a Lake Manyara game drive in between.

Itinerary & highlights

  1. Day 1

    Lake Duluti canoeing

    Arrive and drive to Lake Duluti for a canoeing safari on the lake with birdwatching: giant kingfisher, fish eagle and darters. Overnight near Arusha.

  2. Day 2

    Maasai village and Lake Manyara

    Drive to a Maasai village for a cultural visit and traditional dance, then an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara. Overnight at Karatu.

  3. Day 3

    Lake Eyasi and the Bushmen

    Drive to Lake Eyasi to visit the Bushmen tribes, the Datoga and Hadzabe, and learn traditional hunting skills with bow and arrow. Overnight at Karatu.

  4. Day 4

    Mto wa Mbu and departure

    Visit Mto wa Mbu village, home to Maasai, Makonde, Iraqw and Chaga communities, touring homes and schools, then transfer to the airport for departure.
